Hello.

I am the proud new owner of a '96 216SI. I have a couple of questions:

The previous owner put Castrol ELX 0w/30 on the engine. What is the correct oil to use? One valve is talking a bit when the engine has been off for a while and restartet. Shuts up when it gets a little juice. I'm suspecting the oil is to "thin".

Is it possible to get other headlights than the original? I hit a deer 6 days after the buy, and an original headlight is pretty expensive. :(

Are there any tricks with this car/engine (tuning)?

Where do you buy spareparts. I live in Denmark, and have a feeling that I could save some cash by buying in UK/DE?

Anything else I should know? Any weak points, that I should be aware of?

It's normal for hydraulic tappets to rattle for a short time after the engine has been stopped for a while. I'd have thought thicker oil would make things worse, especially when cold?

There must be plenty of pattern parts for this car. Try ringing your local auto factors.

IIRC the 216 with auto box had a Honda engine, whereas the 216 with manual gearbox had a Rover K-series engine. Once you've identified which engine is fitted then you can search on the internet for tweaks.

Unlikely to save any money, but many of the bits on the old shape 200/400 will fit (e.g. the dashboard!)

If it's a K-series engine then *never* let it overheat as it warps the head very quickly and breaks the head-gasket. It'll need to be skimmed, etc. once this happens. Honda engine suffer from the distributor ignitor thingy (if that's what it's called) - again an internet search should reveal more on this.
