rover 25 pas leak

Jan 21, 2006 3 Replies

I have just bought a 1.6 iL 2001, and have noticed that it is leaking PAS fluid via a drip from the engine sump area.

I am totally unknowlegable when it comes to cars, could anyone suggest what may be the likely cause of the leak.

The car has just been serviced, is it possible to put too much PAS fluid into the system ?

Thanks

When I owned a Rover 200 (Rover 25 pr-facelift) it too suffered from a PAS leak - in fact I bought probably a lifetime supply (1 litre...) of PAS fluid for top-up, most of which I still have.

The cause was the clip securing the hose to the plastic fluid reservoir on the front LHS of the engine bay close to the headlight. The 'clip' was not tight enough to stop fluid leaking. When replaced with a proper jubilee clip the problem was solved.

Thanks Andrew

I have not found the source of the leak yet. I have only had the car 3 days, took it out for a 50 mile spin today, and there was no sign of a leak when I last checked - strange !

Turns out that it was actually a leaking water pump - both the coolant and pas fluid are both red.
