Rover Stereo

Hi

I have just acquired an 820 - the radio/cassette worked fine.

The battery needed replacing and (off course) the radio now wants a code - the previous owner has lost the card and having told me two wrong numbers, now admits that he's forgotten (I sort of guessed that really)!!

So, I phoned my local Rover dealer who tells me that there is no record of my car ever having a radio and can only help me if I quote the number on the side of the unit (and of course there are several numbers) and if I am extremely lucky he can trace the code from that.

It is now Sunday and the dealer is closed, so can anyone else out there suggest a way to trace the code or hack the unit??

Thanks in advance

Dave

Dave, A similar thing happened to me. The dealer had put a different radio in it before I bought the car and not updated any records, so the number they gave me was wrong. Eventually, I took it to a specialist car audio place near me (in Aylesbury) and they took the radio away, came back half an hour later with the number written on a bit of paper. It worked and they charged a tenner. Hope this helps,

Paul
