After topping up my 2002 9-5 the fuel meter stays on empty, including the empty gas light and the d.t.e.in the 'computer'. After some time (several stops/nights) it corrects itself. My previous 9-5 sometimes had the same problem. Anybody had the same experience and/or a solution?

Yes, I have experienced the same problem. Very intermittent, has happened only once that lasted a couple of days. Has not happened in a month or so. I have no idea what caused it. Have not persued it further. Walt
If you let the tank get very close to empty, sometimes the fuel gauge float can get stuck, and it takes a bit of movement to unstick it.
Don't try to fix it unless it fails permanently - it is in an assembly which includes the fuel pump and it is almost impossible to replace one without the other - the plastic breaks. The assembly costs about $A800 - don't know what it costs in the USA.

I had this problem. There is a baffle in the gas tank of the 9-5 that is intended to prevent a sloshing sound when the fuel level gets low. The baffle broke and was floating in the tank, interfering with the sensor.
