9000 Reverse Gear

Aug 16, 2004 2 Replies

On my 94 Saab 9000 2.3i my (manual shift) reverse gear keeps jumping out. Once reverse is selected you have to hold it there by hand because if you don't and apply pressure to the gearbox by letting the clutch go it simply jumps out and starts to grind teeth.

Does anybody out there know a solution or what to do?

Most likely causes - worn engine mounts or worn/misaligned gear coupler.

loose linkage bolts caused same problem on mine
