99 9-3 oil pan question

Jan 12, 2010 0 Replies

Hi,

I have a 99 9-3 and learned that my drain plug is getting seated further back into the pay little by little and therefore I have two optioins......either replace the plug threading using a kit which may or may not work or replace the pan to the tune of $700 plus. I have noticed non OEM pans selling for just over $200 or OEM pans for just over $400.

Any opinions about whether one makes a difference or not in terms of engine life or performance? Is it ok to save and go with the non OEM?

Thanks much, S
