Adding Remote Central Locking

Having run out of amusing gadgets in my 1988 9000i, I figured I wanted remote controlled central locking. Is there a way to add this easily? Is there a possibility to add an aftermarket relay (if the system includes a relay, of which I am not sure), or can electronics from a later model be fitted? Has anyone tried something like this?

If your car already has central locking then it not to difficult !

best pace to tap the wiring is on the central locking module which is behind the instrument panel look for a red and yellow wire, grounding one of those will lock the other unlock the doors, the other place to pick up the connections is in the drivers door. or if you are lucky and have a antitheft alarm wiring you could pick it up from there but im not sure they were standard on the 88 vintage. hope this helps Chris.

There was an article about this in a copy of the UK Owners' Club, SAAB Driver Magazine a few years ago.

If someone could scan this for me, I would be extremely grateful!

Central locking control is originally with on on/off switch, if you install a system with lock/unlock you will have to add some relays and/or eletronics.
