C900 front end work web page

Hi everyone,

I've done a bit of work on the front end of my white 1983 900S, namely repair and repaint the bodywork at the front of the chassis, replace the factory (and damaged) original plastic spoiler with a Saab sports spoiler kit that I was able to get brand new (!), and add nice blue-anodised aluminium mesh to the radiator grille.

Next stage is replacing the factory skidplate with a heavy-duty alumimium 'rally-style' one from Saab Tuners at "

".I'm picking up a set of car ramps today (sourced from a local Ebay seller)and that'll enable me to lift the car up safely so I can work under it toreplace the skidplate (and look at the base of the auto transmission - it'sleaking a little fluid so I think the seals around the pans at the bottomneed to be replaced). I'm also going to look at totally replacing the 'upper member' (discussed in the C900 forum at Saabscene, etc.) which holds all the front-end components bar the bumper onto the car - it's an expensive part but the upper member on the 900S is badly rusting and the only way to deal with it is totally strip the front of the car, remove the upper member, and either sandblast and repaint it (assuming the parts of it I can't easily see are not too rusted out) or buy a new one.

The web page for all this lives at "

Craig.
