Carpet Clips for a 9-3

Oct 15, 2005 1 Replies

I've just got a set of proper Saab carpets/mats for a 1999 9-3.

They have a rivet on the rear that sits over a lug that sits out of the chassis on the driver side and there's a single lug on the passenger side.

The diameter of the rivet is more than the diameter of the lug, and I'm sure when I had a GM 900 that there are clips that act a bit like a hollow cork would and clip the carpets to the lug.

However, I've phoned 2 Saab dealers and their parts departments are adamant that they don't make them, and they aren't listed on the parts computer.

Can anyone help - might it be that the clips are listed still as a 900 part?

cheers, Paul

Paul....I had problems keeping the mats in place on one of my earlier Saabs (can't remember which), and in the end I wote or emailed the mat makers, Stadium, and they sent me a couple of sets of clips - free I think. The clips have a long pin attached to them that is inserted through the carpet up close to the seat. The business end of the clip consists of a pair of jaws that clamps down on the carpet to keep it in place. I've had them quite a few years and moved them to a couple of different cars. The only thing to beware of is that you don't shove the pin through any hidden cables that might be lurking under the carpet. Maybe not quite what you're looking for, but a possible option...
