My wife, who never wanted children, has just blessed me with a second daughter. So I'd like to give her what she desires most ... a convertible. I have been researching Mercedes, Volvo, BMW and Saab looking for a good quality used convertible. Any ideas on the best of these or should I look elsewhere? Need one that's very reliable and safe. Thanks.

You're kidding, right? I'll take the convertible any day... ;-)

But really, I've never heard of such a situation before. Here we have a *guy* that is begging the wife to have children (usually it is just the opposite) and then when she succumbs, all he gets out of it is two daughters! (more women in the house?) And somehow he feels he has to buy her a special car? Sheesh...

Something is wrong with this picture...

I like the logic. I've got 3 kids to swap, what could I get?

As for buying a convertible for a new mom.....

2 doors, low roof, leather seats and absorbent carpet....

After seeing a few of the newish vehicles driven by new moms (sticky stuff all over, ick), I'd be inclined to set them up with a dependable beater and rhino-line the floor in back rather than carpet.

Unfortunately through experience I would have to agree. Had my wife driving beaters for the first two. #3 arrives and I buy her a New Loaded Windstar. Trashed in 6 months.

Oh yeah I'll be doing THAT again.

Now she wants to drive my "old" Saab b/c "it's clean and smells nice" AGRHHH
