Gas Odor

Where would one begin to look to find the reason for a gasoline odor inside the car after it has been standing. It's a 1991, 900 - has been maintained very well - 85,000 miles. The last service was a new water hose. Thanks Greta

Could be that the filler neck assembly has cracks and is letting fuel vapour into the boot/trunk space which gets into the main part of the car.

Greta, Check the fuel rail line that is connected to the fuel pressure regulator. It is a small c shaped hose that when it leaks you get a strong gas odoe in the cabin. Saab did have trouble with that hose from
