Heated Seat Problem

Jan 17, 2006 4 Replies

I have a 94 9000 Aero and the driver seat heater recently stopped working. Previous to that the illumination for the control quit working.

I've removed the control, which has five lugs on the back, and removed the front piece from the control. It looks like I can solder in a new lamp if I can figure out what to use... any ideas?

Is there any way to determine if I have a faulty control or a broken heater wire in the seat?

TIA, Lynn

Hi Lynn.

I went through the same bulb replacement on my 9K 2L LPT a couple of years ago without much grief. "Replacement bulbs: Radio Shack # 272-1092 or Lamp Type 7219(12v, 60 mA). Sold in packs of two for about $1.49." I live in the UK so I used a retailer called Maplin Electronics..

See this link to the excellent Quasi Motors site that talks you through the whole procedure and also tells you how to check and fix your heating elements..

Good Luck!

It can be pretty cheap to buy a 2nd hand switch from eBay. You could always try swapping the switches around for the driver and passenger side to see if the switch is faulty.

Looks good--thanks! Lynn

Good point, thanks. Lynn
