I'm not a complete new-commer to auto maintainence, but can someone tell me what is the point of replacing the oil sump washer with each oil change?
I've done many dozen oil changes in my time and only had a leak when I spaced-out and forgot to reinstall the washer entirely! I get pretty AR about lubrication but this seems like a hideously-overpriced-copper-washer-sales-boosting scheme.
