1984 registered on a UK B plate, very early flat front T16S (Aero kit, duck tailspoiler and aero 3 spokes).I've decided, I need something a little more modern, and less thirsty, and smaller.It needs a little body TLC (one small rust patch on the drivers front wing infront of the wheel and lots of little patches of laquer flaking) but the bonnet is pretty solid with just one or two small bubbles starting to show along the leading edge coming out of the chip protection strip, and one small area of rust that is still solid under the paint, but bubbling at the bottom of the tailgate but hidden by the bumper.On the interior, the only thing non original is the lower console carpetted box. Like a fool, planning to keep the car a while I butchered it to put the CarPC in. It should be burgundy to match the rest of the interior, but it has a grey one fitted which could easily be recarpetted. One small ciggy burn on the burgundy front seat. Been there since before I bought the car.It has the rare burgundy dash top.I think fixer upwise, it needs a set of lower wishbone bushes on the passger side, and maybe an engine mount or two. Not difficult if you mechanically ability and have access to a workshop. I have neither so with the body, and the work it would get very expensive for me, even though the parts are relatively expensive. Also requires either replacement oil cooler or the hoses fittings, I think that is where the oil is leaking from (loses about 3/4-1 litre between 3000mile changes) as the cooler is coated, and so is the underside of the engine/trans where I thing it is blowing under the car off the cooler. Not much at a time, but has built up and perished the bushes and at least one mount, as it pops out of 1,2, and 3 occasionally but only at low revs or trailing throttle, and if you plant it in any gear on boost, not only does the stick move a lot, but you can feel a slight judder as the engine/trans shoots forward a very little and then the chassis catches up. Mazda 323, the one with pop up head lamps also looks quite cool, but you don't see many of them. Rare models had a 6 cyl 1.8L . The successor model was a completely ordinary looking hatch.

A mate had one of them (the 1.6 4cyl not the V6) not a bad car. Looks a bit like a scaled down Corolla or Celica.

The one I would like to find, if I could would either be the V6 or Turbo

4x4 which is pretty rare. Goes quite well too, hold the road nicely, and doesn't look anything special.

If I can't find a decent Prelude, and I can avoid the urge to hunt down a mk3 Supra, the Mazda MX6 2.5 V6 is on my shortlist too.

Much as I would like a Skyline, or GTO/GT3000 just to experience serious turbo power and 4x4 with all the electric stability controls etc, the insurance would be prohibitive.

I used confused.com to get a quote. A mid model R33 GTS turbo skyline was unquoateable, and a Mitsu GTO of arround the same age came out at £1300 fully comp. In contrast, a mid 90's Prelude was £700, and a Mk3 Supra 3.0 turbo was £619. My own insurer doesn't let existing customers use the online check service, but the prelude was £100 cheaper than confused.com (and usually is £100 or more cheaper when I checked on renewal on the Saab, and on other cars I've been interested in) when rang to check, so it may actually be cheaper to insure a Supra than my Saab.

I love the look of the Accords, but they are a little large for me.
