SID: Service Theft System

Nov 21, 2003 9 Replies

The SID said 'Service Theft System' yesterday when I started up in the morning. The message hasn't repeated. Because it occurred only once, can it be ignored? Is this a scheduled maintenance sort of message, a temporary problem, or an indication of an upcoming failure?

It's an indication that someone is watching your car with the intent to steal it. You better keep your Saab locked at all times.

Hi Dave, where have you been?

It usually means the backup battery in the alarm siren needs replacing, Tom, Saabtech, working on a saturday afternoon.

Around, but I'm working on a pretty extensive project at work (a datacenter migration) so I've not been spending as much time on computers on my off-time as usual.

My '99 9-5 2.3l automatic is dripping ATF, any ideas?

Dave

Have you located the drip source?

At this point, I have to wonder whether the cost to fix the oil leak is more or less than the replacment payment from insurance.

Thanks, Tom. I'll call my repair guy (Saabtech in Chicago) on Monday.

In article , snipped-for-privacy@NOSPAMHEREmindspring.com spouted forth into alt.autos.saab...

Are he and Tom related? Saabtech isn't a common Family name? ;)
