Engine gaskets

I am quite fond of my 1995 Saturn which still runs well -- A minor anoyance is multiple slow oil leaks. I add 1 quart of oil a month sometimes as often as once a week. I have a slow front seal leak, rear seal leak between engine and transmission, slow oil pan gasket leak, slow transaxle leak. The seals are all very hard to see (hidden aft left of pan, seals right and left behind pan, hidden above right of pan. I perceive changing all these seals would be quite a task. Only the pan seal is easily visable. Is there a product I can add to the engine oil to seal these slow leaks? If so are there any possible negative consequences of using the product -- I can continue indefinately as is, but not having to monitor the oil level weekly seems attractive as well as not having oil leak onto the garage floor.

There are thickeners but they won't do your engine any good despiite what the labels say.

see post that was entered on 7-2-2004. No do not use thick oil and just food for thought what happens after every oil change ? just add more till ?

Front seal isn't too bad to replace, just a lot of work to get to it. Rear seal is probably best to live with it if you have an automatic transmission. If you have a clutch, the oil will foul it and replacement is more important. Rear seal requires the transaxle to be removed. Then again, if you have the transaxle out to get at the rear main seal, you can get new seals put into the tranny. (hey, this is beginning to snowball) With the oil pan and valve cover gaskets you can sometimes luck out by just re-torque the cover bolts. Seals are only a couple of bucks each but unless you do it yourself the labor cost is considerable. Even so, plan on using another car for a couple of days.
