The big 6 in the 54 pickup leaks a fair amount of oil if it's started after sitting for a day or two, looks like it may be coming from the timing cover area. If it's been run it doesn't seem to leak. Any thoughts?

It's a Studebaker, and that's where it's supposed to leak?

Yeah, the famous Studebaker anti rust proofing design.
Heh, I guess that shoulda been either 'rust proofing' or 'anti rusting' design.
check your road draft tube?
if that's not it, just replace the gaskets.
