CARS the movie

My wife to me to see the new movie CARS for father's day. As per the email I got from Jeff R. a few days ago, there are no Studebakers in this movie, but it is a pretty good flick nontheless. If you are into automobile trivia. You'll really get (ie. understand) a lot of stuff that non-car people will miss. I think most of you would enjoy it. I laughed a lot. Joe Roberts

I went to see it last night, and the film is chock full of automotive references and details strewn through the characters, the dialogue, and the background. Make sure to stay until the very last "bug" hits the screen for lots of sly inside jokes. Can't recommend this movie enough for us car types.

Our local (Washington, DC) Channel 4 movie reviewer, Arch Campbell, gave it four stars, his highest rating. As an aside, Arch, a few years ago when each of the "stars" were presenting their autobiographies, showed a home movie from his childhood featuring his dad's pride and joy, a 1948 Champion 5-passenger coupe. I just saw it last night, along with my landlady's 6 yr. old son. I think we both enjoyed it in completely different ways...

I'll wait for the DVD. I refuse to go to a theatre.

Just got in from the theatre. 2 of the grandchilluns took me to see CARS for father's day. It is everything everybody said it was. Really a nice tribute to the Hudson!

You'll really be missing a treat by not seeing it in widescreen, Bob.

I will wait also, and not miss cell phones ringing, people talking and kids whining.

No, I was not arrested for anything in the theater, you dirty old man (said with admiration, since I aspire to be one someday)

I'm sure I saw the trunk and fins of a yellow/sand/gold colored early hawk, maybe in the flashback to the heyday of Radiator Springs. It appears to the bottom left of the screen as the camera pans from the right to left. ( my right as I'm watching)

That was as close as I could tell to a Studebaker. It had the horizontal grooves in the back of the trunk and I don't know many other cars with those markings. Not with fins anyway.

Not much different from watching at home - dontcha think? (yes - I know, you don't pay $7.50 at home)

OK - we've been discussing the trivia of Pixar's CARS (and probably will for some time), so here's a link about all the Route 66 trivia embedded in the movie.

I'm with you on that one, Bob. Especially since its as good as everyone says it is, I'd want the DVD for my personal collection anyway.
