Looking for a streaming audio recorder program. Anyone know of a good freeware, or shareware program that will record for more than 2 minutes? (or does anyone have a program I can try out?) Jeff

Now what did I tell you about freeware and shareware products?
Jeff, has short term memory lost.
I use Advanced mp3 audio recorder from
It's not freeware, but it only cost 29.95, IIRC. Works fine, and you can record in several different formats. I've used it a lot, and it's paid for itself in terms of hours of music captured. You'll also want to download Audacity (freeware) to edit the recordings you make. Take out ads, excess DJ chatter, and dropouts where the stream is buffering. Works fine, too.
My favorite streaming music source is Commercial-free jazz, blues, R&B, and traditional music from new Orleans. Righteous.

What I've done is use Microsoft's Sound Recorder. You create a 60 second file, save it, do Edit | Insert File and you can add as many of these blank
60 second files as you need to the main file and then record over the whole thing.Lee
OK, But how do I grab the stream coming off the 'net? The streaming recorders will record anything that goes out to your speakers. I was looking for an easy way to record a long audio program (an hour plus).. Jeff

The 60 minute file won't be that hard to create... 1 minute | Save | 2 minute | Save | 4 Minute | Save | 8 minute | Save | 16 Minute | Save... and three more 16 minute files to it and you have an hour to record to.
As far as getting it off the net, not sure... anything that long that I've done has already been saved as a file. WWII radio program with the 99th Infantry Battalion (Separate)... unit that my great-uncle was in (Norwegian-American unit to fight Hitler in the Scandanavian countries... which never happened, he ended up fighting in The Bulge).

There is always Scanner Recorder.
