I bought a 63 Cruiser today that had been sitting for 2-3 years. The owner had bought it for 4K or so fixed it up a bit and drove it daily for about a while until a short circuit burned a inch or so of the wiring to the battery terminal on the ignition switch. He never got around to fixing it, and the car sat. He e-mailed me a few months back to offer me the car at under what he paid, but I'm not that fond of four doors and passed. Then he e-mailed again with a price close to it's value in parts and I drove up to take a look.
I found a car that had been loved for most of it's life, lots of literature, old photos, receipts and the like. As recently as 4 years ago, the car was a real looker, but it's a little sad now. Damp carpets that never dry out, tree sap and the rest have made the poor old gal look pretty sad. Luckily he gave me a good deal on the car because I felt so sorry for the damn think sitting on a side street, under a tree. A nice bonus was the Avanti 4 barrel setup, windshield kit and some odds and ends I got with the car. ( Even got a set of Hawk fins and some hub caps.) The R1 air cleaner and the rest are on ebay already. ( except the fins) here:
