Well, that answered the question of whether he is in custody, or out on bail. The articles say that he is awaiting transfer to Mexico. Wonder if they will keep him in custody in Mexico? Jeff

Why in the world would they send him BACK to Mexico to face federal charges in the US? I wonder what the status will be of all those Avanti parts they seem to have already 'lost' in their previous move(s)? I called them three times in Villa Rica, only once did I ever actually get to talk to anyone...and they had no idea what parts they actually had on hand there.

Mike Gaither finally got hold of them to buy a new power window motor and assy for Trish's convertible. Of course, that was almost two years ago now...

Looks like he kept up the charade much longer than usual...did anyone see the writeup and photos in Avanti magazine last month? It looked lavish...but the whole thing smelled 'fishy' to most of us from the moment we heard he was moving the plant to Mexico!

Bob, as one of those that attended the Avanti event in Cancun, I'll iterate that there were no signs of impropriety at either the new factory or any of the other venues we visited. With the massive amount of outsourcing of manufacturing from the U.S. in pretty much every business sector, it's not much of a stretch to think Avanti Motors would also benefit from doing the same. I've worked in "Silicon Valley" for 20 years. When I started, the valley was full of manufacturing "fabs". You can almost count them on one hand now...

I visited the Villa Rica facility 2.5 years ago. The level of activity and inventory I saw in Cancun in October was much improved - leading me to believe that Mike Kelly is indeed serious about keeping Avanti Motors alive and healthy. We'll need to wait for the upcoming legal stuff to conclude before we can do much more than speculate on the this' and thats'.
