OT Car ad

I was skimming through the newspaper the other day when I was struck by a color ¾ rear picture of a lovely looking car filling the bottom half of the page. There was not a word of text! With the large photo starkly alone, my thoughts returned to the glory days of auto advertising. "Obviously, he drives a Duesenberg" popped to mind. The next step was to find the obvious modern-day supplement to the ad

- a subtle link to a web-site. As "Cayman" was on the rear bumper, this must be in the link. Despite a search, none was to be found.

This was getting a touch too subtle. Although I recognized the car as a Porsche, it might not be picked up by some potential buyers.

Oh well, on to reading the rest of the paper.

The next page had the same ad, but in black and white with loads of text.

Yes, Porsche had missed the chance to be the talk of the autos / advertising world.

Outside of some Curtiss-Wright executives on loan, this must be the first time in automotive history the Packard Hawk and Porsche have been mentioned in the same sentence.
