OT: Son of a motherless goat!

Figures... less than a week before SB, some gamer kiddie got ahold of my credit card number and racked up about a buck-fifty in World of Warcraft stuff. Guess I won't be buying a whole lot as it'll be another week or so before I have access to my good credit card... :/

GRR!

The thing that frosts my cookies is I have been real good about keeping track of my credit card... only thing I can think of is that someone either lifted the number at a restaurant or a parts vendor has an unscrupulous employee (I haven't bought any Studebaker parts, but I have used my CC at several Porsche-specific vendors within the last month.)

They're taking care of it, the problem is I won't have a replacement card in time for SB unless things move faster than I was led to believe :(

Nate,

I'm really sorry you got hit like that and hope they get the scum sucker that did it.

However if you don't know it isn't just kiddies that play World of Warcraft (WoW), a lot of adults do too... including me .

True, but I guess I just ASSumed that an adult wouldn't need to gear someone's CC info for a lousy $150 worth of uplevels or whatever...

Good point.

They probably used it to buy virtual gold from some other scum... your not supposed to do that and a lot of those deals are scams, so just maybe your crook will get ripped off himself!

Amen.

Feces occurs - frequently. I get 20 credit card apps a month. I pitch most, but when somebody offers a free balance transfer and zero interest for a year - Well, lets just say I haven't paid credit card interest in a long time.

Mark (Be Prepared) Dunning

I hope you are shredding the apps that you toss- can't be too careful. I haven't paid credit card interest in many years too- I pay mine in full all the time. Paul Johnson

One of our local TV stations recently took some of those apps., tore them up, taped them back together, hand wrote an address change, and GOT CREDIT CARDS!

If your actual plastic was not stolen, the electronic trail might undo the thief. OTOH, physical theft of plastic is much more secure for the thief.

Works great, just gotta keep track of when they change over. Did it myself.

heh, that's the funny thing - my other credit card just offered me one of those, which is why I don't want to use it - I was planning on taking advantage of it. So I didn't want to charge anything to it, because they nail you with the interest unless you have zero balance when you get the money ("lower rate balances are paid off first" etc...) I figured two credit cards was enough for one person, but maybe not....?

I've done quite well with the zero interest balance transfers... I basically borrowed about $12K at one point in time, interest free for almost two years.

I got tired of getting applications from this one company, got 19 in the space of 10 days, saved them all, AND the prepaid return envelopes.. tore off everything but my name and stuffed it in the INDIVIDUAL envelopes.. with a note REMOVE ME from your mail.. was 14 months before I got another.. wonder what prepaid postage costs per piece??LOLOL

--Shiva--

It's still in my wallet as I type this. that's why I'm having a hard time figuring how someone got ahold of it. OTOH I have used it far more in the past few months than I ever have...

nate

Next time tape the postage-prepaid return envelope to a brick....

Don't worry about it Nate. I am sure JP has some plastic you can borrow

You mean the opening a line of credit at the "company store"?
