Power Hawk Adventures...

First, there was the hiatus which began around 2003 when I let the registration lapse and the gas went bad.

Running the car occasionally with bad gas eventually bent all the intake push rods due to sticking valves.

Then there was the removal of heads, re-lapping all the valves, re-assembly, (It's now 2009).

Finally got it started in 2010 and pulled it out of storage but the brakes were dragging. Had it flat-bedded to a friend's farm where it is now residing in the carport to finish all the "to do" items.

What I thought was a sticking hill holder turned out to be both front brake cylinders last replaced in the 1970's. Luckily, I have two new ones in stock and that will get done today.

Also removing the original front fenders which were full of body filler due to early east coast rust. Should have 'em off by the end of next week as they will be replaced by two "new-to-me" units obtained from Barry.

Next will come urethane paint, reassembly of the body parts etc.

Just as an aside, I did manage to fill the tank, (ouch!), last Saturda and it sure does run like a sweetheart... Lot's of power!

It's only about twenty miles before it will turn over 90K.

Hopefully, it will make the trek to Springfield in June...

Lower intake, side grilles removed and today will begin the actual fender removal. Progress is slow but I only work on it for about three hours three days per week.

Should be ready for cowl repairs if needed this weekend, then freeze plug replacement will be next on the agenda.

I did but sold it about three years ago. No, it did not run bu the new owner will probably get to it sometime. A very rare '31 Prez coupe.

Who ended up with it JT?

FWIW, Dick Quinn's '31 Prez Coupe is for sale. Less than the price of a '31 roadster!

If so, he's not marketing it right.

His is the only known example that is mostly restored.

Mine was the second restorable example.

Both are Q4 models.

BTW, I have the two pieces of Hawk trim off and am trying to find a suitable container to send 'em to you.
