Stainless side moulding on this '66

I asked him how it happened that his '66 had this type of side moldingl



Here is his response: "You are correct the 66 had a small strip of stainless down low but I attended a Studebaker meet and the Studebaker Museum brought the last Studebaker built and it had the same 65 trim and colour as this one so I duplicated it. I find the 65 side trim more appealing to the eye."



Is he right? I have seen the last '64 HT at the museum but never the last '66.

'Not sure what the seller was looking at when he was at the museum, but it must not have been the last car built, the Timberline Turquoise Cruiser. The last car built has the single molding down low, as you reference and as is correct for all 1966s: Commanders, Daytonas, Cruisers, Wagonaires.

The seller's statements, repeated often enough, could become urban legend and we'd have to have Snopes debunk it! BP

Just looking at pics of the last 1966 in the SNM, turquoies cruiser, built in Hamiton, Canada I took on my visit this weekend and the strip is the low down small one..

Behind it it is a life size pic of a red 1964 cruiser with the wide strip running through at the door handle level, so maybe they just got mixed up...or he was looking at the red 1964 Daytona Hardtop, the last car built in the USA, across from the '66. and mixed it up with the '66??
