With Calvin and Jeff gone.....

It's been sort of a trend for some people... There is a phrase used quite often, depending on how far someone moves 'back' Have heard 'quarterback', 'halfback', and 'fullback'. I fit into the 'quarterback' mold, as I went from northern Illinois to Florida and then a quarter of the way back to Georgia. Talked to a lot of people who feel the same way. I only left Florida because of the insane insurance prices, rediculous real estate prices, baffling electricity costs, and winter overcrowding population growth. Liked living in Florida most of the time, but from November to April you can't gp to a restaraunt and sit down to eat without an hours wait. Interesting thing is, Calvin, and Sonny both moved within 200 miles of me (well, Sonny moved first)... All I can tell you is that all three of us like it here (wherever 'here' is .. Oh, and Florida still cleans out my wallet from time to time ..

I've got an aunt and uncle that have been doing the snowbird thing for years, summers outside of Holland Michigan at the old family cottage (in the dunes overlooking Lake Michigan), and winters in Destin, FL.

They are getting on in years and the trip is getting to be too much so they are moving to a retirement home... in Grand Rapids.

Guess that's a "fullback".

Uhh they are both very nice people. Holland is home, he grew up there (as did my Dad, and for that matter it's where I was born), and their son is a successful architect who lives in the area.

Actually for those who don't know Holland Michigan is a very nice place, settled by the Dutch, home of the Tulip Festival and the only real Dutch windmill in the US.
