95 Legacy L Wagon (Brake Line Failure)

Hello

My 95 Legacy L Wagon right rear brake line failed, and I need to replace it. Evertime the brake pedal is depressed, brake fluid sprays from above/behind the fuel tank on the passenger side.

Got underneath the rear, and it appears as though I have to drop the gas tank (and possibly more) to get access to the brake line. Can I get access to the brake line/hose from another direction??? There is a great deal of rust on the tank, as well as the axle.

Has anyone replaced their brake lines on a 95 Legacy? Is it painful, or, simple to replace? I imagine that I should replace the left line while I am under there?!?

Any suggestions/advice is greatly appreciated.

Regards, John

Perhaps replace the rusted fuel tank AND the brake line. Or re-route the new line (safely) and leave the old line in place? Might require some ingenuity. A line from a different model or even from a different car. maybe survey some soobs in junkyards? I dunno. Perhpas a brake specialist would have some ideas. Or some homebuilder (offroad, sand rail, etc.) types may have some kind of long flexible braided line that could be 'snaked' up over the tank?

Thanks Carl. Hopefully I can fix it (without spending to much money). Except for the rust & brake line, the car runs perfectly---and, I don't want to part with it.
