I was gonna replace the PCV valve on my oil leaking '97 legacy. since the valve cover is aluminum and the valve itself is not I'm concerned about some electrolytic reaction, or whatever (I'm not a chemist!) causing the threads to be seized and thus stripped when I take out the old valve. Has anyone ever had this happen?

Doubtful, because of all of the oil vapors that would find their way into the threads before any corrosion set in. You're more likely to have a problem with carbon buildup on the threads. If you find that you need more than 10 ft-lbs of force to unscrew it (about 1/2 of what it takes to remove a spark plug), consider using a box wrench and lightly tapping on it with a hammer near the box end to loosen it up the way an impact wrench would do the job.
