Finally Had It with My Subaru Dealer

So, you speak for the whole group? You ran a survey or what?

Who the hell appointed you moderator of this NG?

You obviously mis the writer's point entirely. You expect to be treated like shit, with implications that you are a liar, and obviously don't put any value on your time. That is why dealers. like the one described treat customers the way they do. The dealer or the customer made a mistake. If is was the customer who had made a note of the wrong day, the dealer would have pointed that out. We all make mistakes but it's how we take care of them that matters.

I am amazed at how poorly people are trained when it comes to customer service. It's not limited to any geographic area or any type of service, it's an epidemic. I took my little baja in for it's first "free" oil change today. Called ahead of time to see if I needed an appointment. He said no..just come in before 3 and it's no problem. I got there just after one and it took over an hour. An hour for a fricken oil change. When I told him it was taking too long I got the "it always takes an hour". "oh yeah? only here. this isn't my first oil change and it's never taken an hour before". "well it always takes an hour. I'm sorry, I thought I was doing you a favor by fitting you in"

A FAVOR??? what the hell... and here I thought they got paid for it. I didn't realize he was there just out of the goodness of his heart. Why would anyone be confrontational with a customer? The correct response would have been. "sorry, should have told you on the phone that due to the thoroughness of our technicians, even oil changes can take an hour. I apologize for making you wait". Then after I leave he can rant and rave at what an ungrateful wench I was. sigh... Doesn't anyone train their employees in customer service anymore?

????? If I make an appointment for something 4 weeks from now I might call the day before to confirm (if they don't call me) but I have never called and confirmed an appointment for a friggin oil change. I can't remember the last time I had to make an appt for an oil change but apparently that's common with Subaru dealers since I just found out mine is the same. The error regarding the appointment is not a big deal. Their response to the problem is a very big deal. If one of my employees ever got confrontational with a customer like that I would be looking to replace them real fast. How you respond to problems makes all the difference in the world. No one expects perfection but I do expect to be treated like the paying customer I am.

You're making a mighty big assumption. Some people prefer to use the dealership for maintenance...even oil changes...for as long as the car is under warranty. It just makes life a lot easier when if you have a warranty issue when all of your scheduled maintenance is in their computer. Color me a little sensitive. I took a vacation day today to take care of a bunch of personal stuff..including an oil change.

LOL.. I was thinking the same thing. Hell, I don't even want to wash my own car most the time. Why would I want to change the oil.

By the time I am home from work, I have maybe an hour before it is getting dark. On the weekends the last thing I want to do is car maintenance. I am a 53 year-old woman. YES, I have changed oil in the past. My dad taught me. I used to do all my own car maintenance, and my husband did his. Once when he threw his back out, I even installed a new radiator in his car while he stood there and told me what to do. I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty. I just don't want to anymore. I have always hated -- despised -- doing car work. YUCK! By the time you have been working for 35 or so years, you hopefully have enough money to take your car IN for that sort of thing. So yeah, I don't want to.

The evidence is in the posts that you have received, I merely pointed out your boring story and selfishness.

No one has ever been appointed moderator to this NG, it's self moderated and that's what's happening to you now.

First of all, you dimwit, this isn't my story but that of the original poster, which I'm not. Secondly, the number of on topic replies in this thread shows an interest in his story. Thirdly, you're speaking only for yourself here, and if you're not interested in this, kill the thread, go read something else, go self-gratify yourself... whatever floats your boat but stop trying to tell me and whoever else what's interesting and what isn't. You obviously lack the ability to determine this.

Please do f*ck off (and consider yourself moderated).

Sure, and in what galaxy would that dealer be found?

Wow: I wonder what extreme mental anguish we'd have if something important happened in life. Probably rant ourselves into a soft walled ward at the local loony bin.

Well, an operatable car is pretty important these days.
