Looking for a seal..

Dec 11, 2004 3 Replies

Got a '95 Impreza 2.2 auto (see any tranny masters' thread) I got this new transmission but its a little different...though its supposed to work just fine.

Here is my problem: The new one has a speed sensor, the older one (the original) has a cable. Now they look like it will switch over just fine, except the newer one doesn't have a seal where the speedo shaft goes into the transaxle. The old one does.

The seal seems to be a push in type, but we can't get the old one out, and would probably destroy it anyway. I got one from the dealer, but its incorrect... Anyone familar with what I'm talking about, and any idea where to find one? Without it, I am totally screwed..

Thanks

How about replacing the instrument cluster package? I think your 95 was the last year to use the cable-driven speedometer.

Don't really want to spend alot on this thing.. I need about on e more year out of it...

Check enough wrecking yards and look at ebay and you should be able to find a used panel in the $25 range.
