Rear Wiper Arm Removal

I've experience the (fairly common) problem with the rear wiper on my

98 wagon. I understand it's common to have the bushing/shaft corrode enough so that the motor cannot turn the wiper, and that the simple fix is to enlarge the bore of the bearing slightly, and/or clean off the corrosion.....

That being said, I'm trying to pull the wiper arm off the shaft. I understand it's a splined shaft, and I've used a puller to no avail.

I'm doing another 24hr treatment with a penetrating oil, but I'm wondering if anyone has any tricks, or do you just cut off the (aluminum) wiper arm,and replace it? I'm not too fussy about using heat, right next to that huge curved glass window.........

Well, after a good overnight dosing with penetrating oil, it popped off with a puller.

Now I need a 21mm socket to do the next step.

As I understand it, it's fairly common for the sleeve bearing to corrode enough that the shaft won't turn, and I can hear the motor running (or trying to), so I'm pretty sure that's my problem.
