I believe the first service is at 12,500kms. I thought the engine could be taken above 4000rpm after 1500kms. So is it correct that -

Most countries seem to vary, in the UK my Forester 2.0 XT Auto service manual says keep below 4000 rpm for first 1000 miles, then have an oil+filter+sump washer change at 1000 miles. Then any revs you want. Second service due at 10,000 miles or first birthday whichever is sooner. Subaru UK currently include three years free servicing, parts and labour, so I may as well stick with the programme :-)

My 'accidently' went pass 4000rpm a few times when my car was only
300-600kms run-in. Just a few quick 'jabs' lasting seconds. Would this cause any long term harm?
My personal opinion is that it probably did more good than harm. The engine really needs a variety of operating conditions to break in properly.
