Tire circumference differential

Question.

I have a flat. Spare has 17,000km on it, the 4 tires on the car have nearly

48,000km on them. Will it be safe to use my spare as an outright replacement or just as a temporary till I have the flat repaired?

You would need to actually measure the circumference. Needs to be w/in

1/4 inch of the others.

Put in the FWD fuse until you know for sure its OK (assuming its an automatic).

If you can find a shop that will shave the tire, that's one option.(call the soob dealer - they may know) Another 'could' be buying 2 tires and putting them on one SIDE. This only works if front and rear diffs are 'open'. (WRX has LSD in rear - won't work. Dunno about Forester, etc.)

If you decide to buy 4 new tires, keep the 3 good ones (or 1 or 2, instead of paying for disposal) to use in case this happens again. You will have partially worn tires to use.( I put mine in the attic) Of course, they must be the same tire models.
