I have the abs light on in my 1996 4x4 full size truck. Someone mentione don some models you can use a jumper or something to get the code? Does anyone know if this is possible on my model?

It should be, Just ground terminal H in the ALDL connector. Turn the key ON then count the flashes from the ABS light.
Where is the connector and the "H" terminal?
The connector is under the dash. Terminals are marked
