2001 Montero Sport -- power steering fluid cap

OK. Let's get this out of the way first. I'm an idiot.

But I can't get the cap off our 2001 Power Steering fluid. It looks like a little radiator cap. I can turn it counterclockwise about a quarter turn before it hits a stop -- just like a radiator cap. Unlike a radiator cap, when I push down it won't turn any more. I'm assuming I should be able to push down to clear the stop and turn it on off, but before I break something I thought I'd ask.

So, how the heck do I get the cap off a the power steering on a 2001 Montero Sport?

Hi Frank,

I think that all you have to do is pull up on the cap once you give it the quarter turn and it hits the stop. You may have to wiggle it a bit to line up the tabs on the cap with the slots on the reservoir and then it should lift right off.

Once it hits the stops you should just have to lift up on the cap to remove it.

Thank you gentlemen. Yes, it's a quarter turn and pull. Except the neoprene gasket under the cap was stuck like glue to the top of the fill tube. I pulled and rocked the cap until the fingers on the cap suddenly let go of the gasket, and I wound up juggling the cap until I dropped it. I had to pull the skidpan to get it back out. After all that it wasn't even low on fluid. I know that should be a good thing, but I feel strangely cheated somehow . . . lol.
