92 Ford Ranger 2.3L--where is voltage regulator?

Hi,

Can anyone identify this electrical item, just forward of the fusebox on the passenger fender, near the battery? It has two exposed connectors attaching thick red wires. Is it the voltage regulator?

It's the starter relay. Almost all alternators use an internal regulator these days.
