My mom's '96 Taurus has had her dome light stay on longer and longer. It used to go off by itself, but then started staying on longer and longer. Tonight it won't go off at all. I pulled the fuse cover off and pulled out a relay that was labeled "interior light" and the dome light went off. The relay was a little warm, which I guess means nothing other than it was energized for quite some time. The relay that I pulled has a part number of F56B-14B192-AA. Next question: Will simply replacing this relay fix the problem, or is there other things that are making this relay stay on? (BTW, I checked the dome light switch, it was not in the "on" position)
I am going to the Ford dealer tomorrow and get a new one. Anyone have more experience with this than me and am I correct to assume that this will fix it? Thanks in advance.
