Any diesel mechanic gurus on here?

"Who here can fix my problem? Now mind you, I'm not going to TELL you the problem or even all the symptoms, I'm going to quiz you and dribble out one or two clues at a time and see how long you'll play." Do you ever get people that walk into your shop and play you that way face-to-face, Ian? I kinda doubt it, its a lot easier to be a belligerant jerk through the anonymity of a keyboard and internet connection.

I have to say I'm kinda proud of the way this group as a whole responded. It would probably be even better if we'd just ignored the damnfool, but then he'd just have changed sock-puppet names and tried again (in fact, he already did post another more detailed genset engine question under a different name, and didn't get a SINGLE response). Which also tells me the damn thing STILL isn't running :-)

Hard to be helpful if I can't tell whether you're having trouble with a diesel mechanic or a diesel generator.

You've read the hundreds of thousands of posts archived in this newsgroup?

Steve,

Before I bullet each item that you posted as an absolute fabrication, I am going to give you the chance to edit your post below and tell it correctly instead of posting your fantasies.

Who on here thinks he will run and wimp out on this challenge?

Man, are you guys liars.

aarcuda,

It may take you a long time to pick up and study a red-hot horseshoe but, I can tell it is hot just by the glow.

One does not have to read about each and every murder victim to know that Ted Bundy was a bad man.

Although, I have been here for years and seen much stupid advice given, I do not have to read thousands of posts to know that a handful on here are just plain dumb though, they would never believe that about themselves.

Hi, John and thanks for the reply.

All of the ones that I have utilize the electric shut-off. That is the very first thing that I checked on this one.

What sizes of Onans did you work on, John?

What frequency were they?

Yes, and Mary, Bill, Todd, Robert, Harry, George, Big Bird, Mr. Greenjeans, Tooth fairy, Santa Clause and anyone and everyone who parades in the dark and sick recesses of your imagination.

Good for you.

Who?

We are so fortunate to have you here to set us straight.

So, did you ever get that Lincoln running?

Coincidentally, I was thinking that same thing - last sentence. Now, be a good boy and run along - you are boring me and short on things to say.

I see that you are still delusional. Can't you guys live in the real world? I did get the Onan running but that is old news to those who keep up.

If you'll remember Cass, the last time you tried bossing me or anyone else around, it didn't work.

Anyone in rec.crafts.metalworking figure out who you are yet?

I see that you are still the same obnoxious windbag.

The real world is; this is not a generator newsgroup.

I'm referring to that piece of crap Lincoln that you couldn't get running a few years ago. Fuel pump problem, wasn't it?

I don't own a Lincoln nor is my name Cass.

What is it with you guys? You just keep stepping in it. Are you just so damned dumb and beyond redemption that you can't realize that?

One guy even went so far as to say that I haven't fixed my problem since he saw a post like mine that was requesting help on a generator and talked about the injection pump with a bolt on the side, etc. This was a Hercules engine, I think. Now, I'll admit that the post raised my eyebrows a few feet but damn, is this how you guys approach problems in real life? Do you see a problem with a car that you are working on that has ignition problems and therefore, all future cars with ignition problems, must be the same thing?

Come on, are you trying to deflect the issues that you guys (respondents to my posts) are just a bunch of parts-changers?

You are the one that is letting yourself be bossed around.

What difference would it make what my name is? Tell me that, dumbo.

Did he wrong you or bed your wife or daughter?

Oh, two can play the crosspost game. Is that what you wish to do - ruin this newsgroup? I really don't. Keep it up.

This is beyond belief.

Keep it up and I will see that some juicy details will be exposed about you. Anyone can play guessing games but yours will be based upon truth and not fantasy.

It's been a while and I think my memory has started slipping a little after I hit 55, lol. They were little 10 KW Onans with Cummins 4 cylinder diesel, air cooled, 3 phase. I was helping a friend that had a contract with GE on the base. I'm no guru by any means, I was learning myself as I went. They had some good service manuals that helped a lot. They had about 30 of the little two cyl 5 KW gas jobs. They were very old and hard to get parts for around here. They had to be torn down every 500 hrs or they would start knocking when hitting the carbon build up on the heads and piston tops. John

Have you ever, just once, in your delusional state, considered that you may be playing a long shot? If not, you are more stupid that I had originally thought, if that is possible.

Seriously, before I made a post that I could be caught on and proved to be a blithering idiot, I would be damned sure of whom I was accusing to be the 'phantom'.

As I asked, what difference does it make?

Also, so what if this is an auto group? Aren't engines used both in autos and generators and heavy equipment and stationary applications?

Your narrow vision and determination to stay 'in the box' is mind-boggling.

Hi again, John.

It is so refreshing to see a sane and sensible post on here but let's not get into that, it stands on its own for all to see.

I haven't seen any 10 kw units. I have seen 12 kw and larger and the smaller 6 kw units - all diesel.

I am somewhat familiar with the 4 and 6 kw gasoline units, too. And, yes, I know that they are bad about 'carboning'.

I have some gasoline units for my own use and some diesel units, too but I really prefer the diesels.

Do you recall just what you guys did when you tore them down because of excessive carbon build-up?

I think that you probably removed the heads and maybe even the intake if they had any sort of egr.

Onan's manuals are pretty good but they are awfully expensive. I need some for this 15 kw. job, just to keep on hand for when it needs more work. It sure does run smoothly now.

Curious: do you currently own a genny?
