Carb base leaking

Aug 20, 2003 2 Replies

I spead carb cleaner to the base on my 87 Accord and the engine rev up,is anything I can just patch base of the carb to stop the leak?

I would try to tighten it first.

Then second I would be looking for a new base gasket.

And third I would use some 'gasket' maker sealant on it. Do not use silicone of any type, gas turns it to jelly fairly fast, get a real gasket maker liquid of some type that states it's for gas.

an 87 accord most likely has a base heater plate between the carb and manifold. pull it off and do it right. those things were finicky anyway. i bet the plate is either cracked or warped real bad. Chip
