Some are. Others aren't.

In general, no. One particular model (the A-604 or 41TE) was rushed to production in 1989 and had a LOT of problems for several years. Anything from the mid 90s onward is pretty comparable to other manufacturers, though IMO ALL front-drive transaxles are inherently a little more trouble-prone than rear-drive automatic transmissions. Just based on reading auto newsgroups, I'd guess that the Honda Odyssey might be the current problem-child of automatic transaxles. That's what happens when a vehicle porks up to 4000+ pounds in a single re-styling :-p
