My car has started to exhibit the following behavior. When it is started cold, after about two minutes (always at around the same time since start), there is an episode of fluctuating engine power. It cuts in and out at a frequency of about 3 times per second, causing the car to oscillate in what looks like a steady, periodic pattern: woom, woom, woom, woom ... I'm usually in third gear, with the engine RPM is in the 1500 to 2000 range. This episode is brief, lasting only for a maybe ten seconds, if even that. It then goes away and doesn't recur. Hitting the clutch and stabbing the accelerator also clears it right away. Before and after the episode, it drives normally; the problem doesn't recur until the next cold start (and not every time, but quite regularly). Any ideas what I should look for?
