Read your post again. You certainly do say that the bicyclist then 'needs a car with a bike rack'. That's saying what a fair number of motorists have told me when I'm bicycling, to drive or get off the road entirely. It's just as absurd as an argument that drivers of cars get a truck.
You've clearly never ridden a well groved track trail. And can't comprehend the obvious and the point. The point being that the a 12 foot wide paved lane is way more than a bicyclist needs. It's not the bicyclist who needs a lot of space to travel safely, it's the automobile driver.
