Is Ford Escape = Mazda Tribute?

Is the Ford Escape really a Mazda Tribute? I'm thinking of getting one and I have heard pretty good things about this vehicle.

So, without any basis except a stupid predjudice againts "American" vehicles, you'd not buy a Tribute? The Tribute is largely the same as an Escape. However, Mazda had a large part in the design. My sister has a

2001 Escape. It has been a great little vehicle. It has needed one repair - a coolant level sensor. Heck, even Consumer Reports recommends the Escape - an almost unbelieveable achivement in light of CRs bias against "American" cars in general and FOrds in particular.

American vheicles are far from the worst vehicles in the world. In fact in many ways, they are the best - at least for American conditions.

First of all, I have never owned an import. The reason why I made that comment about American cars is because I am tired of spending money on stupid repairs for these American irons. Just spent substantail money on a pitnam arm for my 98 Grand Marquis with 50,000 miles. It is way too early for that part to fail, and believe me it really failed to the point where the car was unsafe. I also have a 93 Lesabre which has cost me a lot of money in repairs. All the people where I work have imports and I don't see thme spending tons of money on nonsensical repairs. I am 54 years old and have owned a lot of American cars. I think that it may be time to change. As far as the Escape, I'm happy that you have good experience with it because my wife rally wants one and she will probably get one. Robert
