Hi, I have a 1998 Mazda 626, LXi 2.0, 150k miles, always serviced at Mazda garages.
It started to stall and stutter recently between 1500 to 2000 rpm, above 2000 no problems. Most noticable in second as you crawl in the traffic. It never actually stops just looses about 50% of power.
I suspect it must be a bad connection or a faulty senzor, since othervise the car is OK and passed MOT recently.
I wanted your oppinion before I visit the garage again, because I heard the stories about some garages, that when they cannot find a fault they just take out the old processor unit, replace it by the one they swapped earlier and charge arm and leg for the privilege. If you are lucky they might find the fault after several more visits and every time you pay through the nose.
I am not saying it is happening at Mazda services or any other particular garage, just heard stories.
So, any ideas what is causing this or should I just trust the garage to fix it?
Thanks ayosha
