Need Engine Flush?

Question

If I'm switching to synth. oil, do I need to Engine flush an engine with just 23,600 miles? The oil is very clean, and my current feeling is that it's not necessary. Some AMSOIL dealers claim 50,000 miles or more, while others claim 15,000, and still others claim the miles don't matter. The car is only 1 1/2 years old. It was previously maintained under warranty, so I'm certain is has had it's regularly scheduled oil changes.

You shouldn't need to flush a car with that little mileage. Even if it wassludged up, using a flush might not be a good idea, as all that goo comingloose at once could potentially clog oil passages..

Don't look that far into it, just change the oil to synthetic and drive. Ihope you are not going to use spamsoil I wouldn't use that crap in my lawnmower. I have been on Mobil One for 140,000+ miles with Fram filters. Ichange the oil and filter every 5000miles. Still going strong!!!!!!!!"

You don't need to flush it.  Synthetics are highly detergent and willeffectively flush it for you.  Be careful on the mileage if you have anyremaining warranty - most new cars have a statement in the owners manual tothe effect that it is OK to use synthetic oil but it has to be changed atthe same prescribed intervals for regular oil.On 7/27/03 3:35 AM, in article    snipped-for-privacy@post
