Need Engine Flush?

Jul 27, 2003 3 Replies

If I'm switching to synth. oil, do I need to Engine flush an engine with just 23,600 miles? The oil is very clean, and my current feeling is that it's not necessary. Some AMSOIL dealers claim 50,000 miles or more, while others claim 15,000, and still others claim the miles don't matter. The car is only 1 1/2 years old. It was previously maintained under warranty, so I'm certain is has had it's regularly scheduled oil changes.

Thanks.

Joe

You shouldn't need to flush a car with that little mileage. Even if it was sludged up, using a flush might not be a good idea, as all that goo coming loose at once could potentially clog oil passages..
