Hi All,
From way back in 1996 I saw articles about OBD III. But in recent past not much. Did EPA and CARB drop the idea? What is the future of OBD II.

It's slowly being superseeded by CAN (Controller Area Network) which I believe is on the Toyota Prius and a couple other cars currently.

So true. Isn't a system out there that can't be cracked, Microsoft or not.
It's why I get a really queasy feeling when I use an MS driven ATM.

Are you aware that MS has developed and is actively marketing an OS for automobiles? No joke, although there is plenty of material ;)

Yes I'm aware of it. Wasn't there a BMW model that used early versions of the software and suffered so many glitches that the cars were virtually undriveable?

Sounds familiar, but it's hard to tell satire from fact.
