remote car starters

i have a 2000 chevy venture and would like to get a remote car starter for it. i've seen prices as low as $99 installed and as high as $350 (dealer quote). the dealer claims all the cheap models bypass and trick the security system in such a way that it leaves you vulnerable over the long haul. they further claimed that they remove at least 100 a year of the cheap aftermarket remote starters because of owner brings the vehicle in (because it won't start at all) and it turns out the remote starter is the problem. the dealer claimed the more expensive remote starters tie directly into the car's system in such a way that it's fully integrated and not nearly as vulerable to problems down the road.
