replacing tranny in '82 Chevy G10 van

Depends on how desperate you are. Can it be done? sure! Is it going to be fun? No! If you can get it up off the ground some it helps (jackstands), I don't know about lifting it into place, I for sure am not strong enough to hold it while somebody else lines it up and inserts a couple bolts..... I did it in my driveway on an 82 chevy pickup, had the front wheels on ramps (last gasp of the old tranny) and used a piece of plywood on the floor jack to balance the jack on to lift it into place (torque converters are heavy!). Took my time and it worked out well. There isn't much to do under the "hood" and in fact it may be easier to get the top bolts out - on my truck I had to lower the rear of the tranny to reach the top two bellhousing bolts the support the rear of the engine with a jackstand. tad
