In my head gasket kit are 12 o rings. What are they for?

Gasket kits often contain parts for several similar engines. Unneeded parts may be left over and discarded. If your engine is a Ferrari V12 with direct injection, don't throw the o-rings away until you get the heads off to be sure.

Rodan.

I wish it was a ferarri!

It is a dodge dakota and I have the heads off. Could they be for the fuel injectors?

Do you have a manual? Is it an OHC engine? Could be valve stem seals, injector seals, or something only Chrysler could dream up!

When in doubt, call the local Chrysler dealer. They can tell you, even easier if you bring one or two with you and tell them how many came with the kit!

There was a separate bag for valve stem seals.

If they are square cut and fit the valve stems they are valve stem seals. They go under the valve keepers between them and the retainer. They keep oil from the rocker arms from simply running down the valve stems and burning.
