My drafting teacher came to class last week with a problem that he would like some help with. He has a '27 Model T with a Buick V6, Jag rear end, and origianl front end. The front end is a buggy style leaf spring set up (single set of leaf springs, mounted side to side, supporting a solid front axle). The spring set is mounted upside down (bushings mounted to the axle). His problem is the spring rate is too high and he wants to lower it. Is there a formula to find out the spring rate of each spring?
